Oregon defeated Irvine Valley College, 3-2, on Monday for its first beach win of the season

IRVINE, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball team earned its first win of the season while splitting a doubleheader on Monday, defeating Irvine Valley College, 3-2, but falling to No. 6 Cal Poly, 5-0, at the IVC Sand Complex.

How it Happened: The Ducks (1-2) won in straight sets on three courts against host Irvine Valley College (3-8) to pick up their first win of the 2018 beach campaign.

The duo of Maggie Scott and Ronika Stone earned their second win of the year at the No. 4 court, coming away with a 21-19, 21-12 victory. With seven wins together over the last two seasons, Scott and Stone are now first on the UO beach all-time list.

Senior Marine Hall-Poirier paired with freshman Kyra Hanawahine to pull out a hard-fought win at the No. 5 court, winning 21-17, 21-12. The Ducks' No. 1 duo of Lindsey Vander Weide and August Raskie clinched the Oregon win with a 21-19, 21-18 victory at the top court.

Oregon was unable to pull the upset of No. 6 Cal Poly (16-2) earlier in the day, as the Mustangs swept the match for their 13th straight win.
