
Women's Tennis Tames Panthers, 6-1, Saturday

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Oregon women's tennis team opened their weekend road trip through the Peach State defeating Georgia State, 6-1, Saturday morning.
How it Happened: The Ducks (4-1) got to work quickly against the Panthers, in their first of two matches in Atlanta. In the first doubles appearance of her career, freshman Julia Lilien and partner Julia Eshet made quick work of Georgia State's Damira Muminovic and Lara Vovk, 6-0, at the No. 2 spot.
Alyssa Tobita and Shweta Sangwan secured the doubles point for UO with a 6-3 win at the No. 1 position.
In singles play, Oregon had three matches go to third sets on their way to the match victory. At the No. 2 spot, Sangwan squared off against No. 108 Kristen Rehse. The junior fought back after dropping the opening set, 5-7, to win the match in the three sets by a score of 5-7, 6-4, 1-0.
Eshet opened the scoring for UO with a decisive victory at the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-1, while Tobita and Rifanty Kahfiani clinched the victory with duplicate scores of 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 and No. 6 spots, respectively.
Lilien picked up her third straight singles victory with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Muminovic at the No. 5 spot.
Oregon's only loss on the day came at the No. 4 spot as Daniela Nasser pushed the match into a third set, but could not hang on to win falling to Arina Taluyenko, 7-5, 6-7, 1-0. So far this season all but one of Nasser's singles matches have gone into a third set.
Notable: Alyssa Tobita climbed one spot in both the all-time singles and doubles wins list following her victories today … The senior is now tied with Marlou Kluiving for fifth all-time with a career singles record of 67-41 … Tobita and partner Shweta Sangwan also claimed sole possession of the No. 3 spot on the UO all-time doubles wins list with a career record of 35-12 … Tobita and Sangwan are now two wins behind Tobita and senior Nia Rose's career mark of 37-16.
