Oregon Game Notes: Arizona
02/23/18 | Men's Basketball
Oregon will honor its six seniors during postgame ceremonies following the Ducks' final home game on Saturday versus No. 14 Arizona (7:15 p.m., ESPN). Oregon will recognize three-year senior managers Robbie Ellis and Chris Reeves, walk-on senior Evan Gross, graduate transfers Elijah Brown and MiKyle McIntosh, and four-year senior Roman Sorkin.
THE STARTING FIVE
• 1 – The young Ducks have lost six games this season by single digits, including a pair of close calls last weekend at USC and UCLA. The last time the Ducks fielded a team this young was 2005-06. That sophomore-laden squad dropped an excruciating 13 games by single digits, but did make a run to the 2006 Pac-10 Tournament semifinals. That same group of players won the Pac-12 Tournament and advanced to the Elite 8 the following year.
• 2 – Oregon has clinched its eighth straight winning season. It is the first time in 86 years that the Ducks have recorded eight winning seasons in a row (10 straight from 1923-32).
• 3 – Oregon has also established the program record for wins over an eight-season span (205).
• 4 – The Feb. 11 WSU win gave Dana Altman his 21st consecutive winning season as a head coach. He is one of six active head coaches in NCAA Division I who have posted a winning record for the last 21 consecutive seasons (the other five are in the Hall of Fame).
• 5 – During Dana Altman's eight-year tenure at Oregon, the Ducks have the second-best record in the league during the second half of Pac-12 play. Only Arizona's 52-17 record over that span is better than Oregon's 49-20 mark.
