
Tobita, Sangwan Victorious On Opening Day Of ITA Fall Nationals

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - Senior Alyssa Tobita and junior Shweta Sangwan kicked off the ITA Fall National Championships with a bang Wednesday picking up the program's first-ever nationals tournament win in straight sets.

How It Happened: One of Oregon's most successful duos in program history, Tobita and Sangwan added to their already stellar fall season taking on Ulyana Grib and Maryna Veksler of Florida International in the doubles round of 32.
Both pairs battled back and forth in the opening set, but the Ducks were able to gain the edge winning the first set 7-5. They would go on to secure the win by a score of 7-5, 6-2.
Notable: As a team, Tobita and Sangwan are currently 9-0 this fall season.
Up Next: Tobita and Sangwan will take on the seventh-seeded pair of Paige Hourigan and Kenya Jones of Georgia Tech in the round of 16 Thursday at 2:30 p.m. PT.
