
Ducks Impress In Day One of ITA Northwest Regional

The Oregon women's tennis team saw both doubles pairs and three Ducks advance to the round of 32 after the first day of play at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships.
STANFORD, Calif. – The Oregon women's tennis team had an impactful start to the ITA Northwest Regional Championships Thursday with both doubles pairs winning their opening matches and three Ducks advancing to the round of 32.

How it Happened: The Ducks opened day one of the regional championships with a perfect sweep in doubles play to advance both UO doubles pairs to Friday's round of 32.
Sophomores Rifanty Kahfiani and Julia Eshet recorded an 8-3 victory over Cal Poly's Grace Olyphant and Molly Reed.
Senior Nia Rose and junior Daniela Nasser downed Seattle's Kali McCollister and Audrey Scott 8-2 in their opening match.
The two pairs will join the No. 3 seed duo of Shweta Sangwan and Alyssa Tobita, who received a first round bye, in the next round.
In singles play, six Ducks recorded first round victories with three advancing to the round of 32.
After earning a bye in the opening round No. 2 seed Tobita cruised to the next round with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Nikita Pradeep of UC Davis.
Ninth-seeded Sangwan nearly swept her Sacramento State counterpart 6-0, 6-1 before booking her ticket to the round of 32 with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Cal Poly's Susanne Boyden.
Eshet followed suit with a 6-4, 6-3 win in her opening match followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win over Abigail Bourguignon of Gonzaga.
In her first-ever appearance in the Northwest Regional Championships, freshman Paiton Wagner swept Seattle's Audrey Scott 6-0, 6-0 in the opening round. The Cashmere, Wash., native came up short in the round of 64 dropping a hard fought three set match to Kareena Manji of St. Mary's 4-6, 7-6(6), 6-2.
Kahfiani picked up a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Seattle's Hannah Gianan, but fell in the round of 64 to Rylee Braeden of Eastern Washington 6-4, 6-1.
Nasser downed USF's Shanna Dos Santos 6-2, 6-2 to open singles play, but could not force a third set against Portland's Radina Dimitrova in the round of 64 falling 6-4, 7-5.
