Ducks Win 12 Matches on Day One of ITA Northwest Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. - Four singles and all three Oregon doubles teams advanced to the round of 32 for 12 wins on the first day of the ITA Northwest Regionals.

Doubles play will resume Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., with singles play beginning at 10:00 a.m.
How it Happened: In doubles, the Duck duo of freshman Julia Eshet and senior Marlou Kluiving won 8-5 over Celine Gruaz and Seriana Saltzen of Cal Poly.
Sophomore Daniela Nasser and junior Nia Rose took down Fresno State pair, Georgia Lawson and Juliane Triebe, 8-7 (2).
With an 8-2 victory over Alexis Prokopiuk and Lana Slavica of Washington, sophomore Shweta Sangwan and junior Alyssa Tobita advanced.
Four Ducks' singles advanced to the round of 32.
Eshet defeated Marine Dons of San Jose St., 2-6,6-2,6-0 and Christiana Ferrari of Pacific, 6-2,6-3.
Sangwan took down University of Portland's Tatiana Grigoryan, 6-2,6-4. She then won 6-2,6-3 over Alexis Nelson of UC Berkeley.
With a 6-1, 6-1, two-set victory over Tracy Dong of Portland State, Rose moved onto defeat Carolina Chernyetsky of Sacramento State, 6-0, 6-1.
To move onto the round of 32, Tobita bested Fresno State's Emma Wilson 6-3,6-2 and Kimberly Yee of Stanford, 6-3, 7-5.
Nasser was defeated by Aneta Miksovska of Washington State in three sets, 7-6(5), 4-6,6-3.
Kluiving won 6-1,6-0 over Lejla Colic of Washington State and fell in the round of 64 to Washington's Katarina Kopralic, 2-6,6-3,6-4.
What it Means: All of Oregon's doubles pairs advanced to the round of 32 in the opening tournament of the 2016-17 season.
Four of the six singles players moved onto the next round for a total of 12 wins on the day.
Looking Ahead: Action at the ITA Northwest Regionals will resume tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. Quarterfinals will be played on Sunday, with semifinals for both doubles and singles will be Monday - championships on Tuesday.
