Two Doubles Pairs Advance After Day Two of Regionals

STANFORD, Calif. - Two individual Ducks and two doubles pairs advanced to the round of 16 after the second day of the ITA Northwest Regionals.

Doubles play for a spot in the quarterfinals will begin Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m.
How it Happened: In doubles, freshman Julia Eshet and senior Marlou Kluiving took down Lani Green and Nikita Pradeep of UC Davis, 8-3. The duo will face Washington's Stacey Fung and Tami Grende on Sunday.
The Duck duo of sophomore Daniela Nasser and Nia Rose also advanced, besting Gonzaga's Nevado Apollo and Alexandra Bourguignon, 8-6. A match between Emily Maxfield and Gen McCloskey of USF will determine the coveted spot in the quartfinals.
Sophomore Shweta Sangwan and junior Alyssa Tobita fell 8-4 to Caroline Lampl and Kimberly Lee of Stanford.
In singles play, Rose defeated Nour Abbes of Washington, 7-5,6-2 to advance to the round of 16, but was defeated by Melissa Lord of Stanford in three sets (4-6,7-5,7-5).
Tobita also made it to the round of 16 after defeating Danielle McIntyre of St. Mary's 6-2,6-3, but fell just short of the quarterfinals to San Jose State's Sybille Gauvain, 7-6(3),6-4.
Eshet and Sangwan were defeated in two sets during the round of 32 by Maegan Manasse of UC Berkeley (6-1,6-1) and Caroline Doyle of Stanford (6-2,6-2), respectively.
What it Means: Eshet and Kluiving along with Nasser and Rose will play for a spot in the ITA Northwest Regionals doubles quarterfinals on Sunday.
