
Ducks Win Third Straight, Claim Thriller in Pullman

PULLMAN, Wash. – Clutch rebounds by Jillian Alleyne on defense and Jordan Loera on offense helped the Oregon women's basketball team to a thrilling, 70-69, win over Washington State on Friday night at Beasley Coliseum.
Up one with just two seconds left, Alleyne grabbed the board on a missed WSU runner while Loera grabbed a rebound on a missed free throw and ran out the final second to clinch the win.
The Ducks improved to 11-11 (4-7 Pac-12) with their third straight win while the Cougars dropped to 13-9 (4-7).
Stat Sheet: Alleyne paced the Ducks with 20 points and 19 rebounds while Drea Toler had a career-high eight assists and added four points, three steals and three boards. Lexi Bando added 14 points, including 4-of-5 shooting from three-point range, and Katelyn Loper scored 10 points off the bench. Lexi Petersen tallied nine points.
How It Happened: Oregon took its first lead of the game on a Bando three-pointer, 8-5, with 14:05 left in the first half. Another Bando triple put the Ducks up by eight, 33-25, after a 10-3 run with just more than three minutes left before the break. The Ducks took a 37-30 lead into halftime on Alleyne's points plus 5-for-8 shooting from long range in the first half.
A couple quick three-pointers by Washington State to start the second half cut the Oregon lead to just two, 39-37, with 17:52 left in the game. Oregon responded, however, with an 8-2 run to make it 47-39 with 15:05 remaining. WSU cut it back to a two-point game once again, 50-48, with 11:55 on the clock but Loper answered with a three on the other end.
WSU kept the pressure on, as a steal and score by Lia Galdeira made it just a one-point lead for the Ducks, 53-52, with 9:54 remaining. Oregon answered once again from long range, as Jordan Loera buried back-to-back threes to put the Ducks up, 59-52, with 8:19 to play.
With a tie game, 65-65, with 3:37 left Bando entered the game and hit a three. The Ducks held just a one-point lead, 68-67, with 22.5 seconds left before Bando hit a pair of free throws. WSU knocked down a layup on the other end and fouled Toler on a breakaway with 8.5 seconds left. Toler missed both attempts but Galdeira missed a runner and Alleyne grabbed the board and was fouled. Alleyne missed her front end of a one-and-one but Loera snagged the rebound and ran out the final 1.3 seconds for the win.
Record Book: After hitting three three-pointers against WSU, Loper tied Ariel Thomas for ninth all-time at UO with 126 career triples.
Notable: Alleyne had six rebounds in the first four minutes of game time … Oregon started 1-of-11 from the floor but hit 15 of its next 22 baskets in the first half.
Up Next: The Ducks head to Seattle to meet the Huskies on Sunday at 6 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks.
