
Ducks Rout Blue Hose in 2015 Opener

CLINTON, S.C. – The Oregon women's lacrosse team came out poised and in control in its 2015 opener, with an 18-1 rout of Presbyterian on Friday at Old Bailey Stadium.
How It Happened: The Ducks got off to a hot start to thanks to Cambi Cukar who found the back of the net just two minutes into the game for the freshman's first collegiate goal. UO then took a 7-0 lead after Cukar connected with Bella Pyne, who was cutting across the crease, with 10:18 left in the first half.
The Ducks headed into the locker with a 7-1 lead and had an 8-1 advantage in draw controls. UO also outshot the Blue Hose 14-3 in the first half.
Hayley Milner opened the second half for Oregon with a pair of goals within 40 seconds of one another to record her first hat-trick since April 14 of the 2013 season.
Like in the first half, Oregon was just as dominant in the second half and blanked the Blue Hose with an 11-0 run to wrap up the season opener with an 18-1 victory.
The Oregon defense came out hungry, forcing 16 turnovers compared to Presbyterian's five.
Janelle Parker got the win for Oregon in her first-career start in the crease. The redshirt freshman picked up one save in five save opportunities, while giving up just one goal in 41:45 of play.
By The Numbers: Holly Johnson played the role of distributer on Friday, dishing out five assists…Three Ducks tallied their first collegiate goal in Cukar, Natalie Modly and Evan Murphy…UO outshot PC 34-5 and owned the draw controls 13-8…Oregon also held a 27-12 edge in groundballs…The win gave the Ducks just their fourth season-opener win in program history.
