Advancing with an 8-2 victory in the round of 32 Thursday, Aubuchon and Tobita came up short, 8-5, in their round of 16 match today against Fresno State's Mayar Ahmed and Rana Ahmed. In singles, Daniela Nasser fell, 6-1, 6-4, to Arizona's Lauren Marker in the singles main draw's round of 32.
Alyssa Tobita snagged a straight-set win in the singles consolation bracket, downing UC Irvine's Arisha Ladhani, 6-1, 6-2.
Marlou Kluiving and Daniela Nasser earned a spot in the consolation quarterfinals with an 8-3 triumph over Loyola Marymount's Elanor Grossman and Kristine Kouyoumjian.
What It Means: Strong performances throughout the fall season from Johnson and Sangwan, along with the rest of Oregon's newcomers, are promising signs for the young Duck squad. After two days of action at the Jack Kramer Invitational, freshman Shweta Sangwan is three wins away from her second singles title this fall. Also making an appearance in the quarterfinals Saturday, the tandem of Johnson and Sangwan has been electric. Johnson, Sangwan and the other Ducks remaining in consolation action hope to tally as many wins as possible on Saturday and Sunday to head into the spring dual season with a surge of momentum.
