
Ducks Fall 13-11 in MPSF Quarterfinals

DENVER, Colo. - The Oregon lacrosse team was on the wrong end of a stunning UC Davis comeback in the opening round of the seven-team Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament, losing 13-11 on Thursday night. The Ducks finish the season with a 7-11 record (3-3 MPSF) and the Aggies (11-5, 3-3 MPSF) will match-up with No. 1 seeded Denver next.
After leading 6-4 at halftime, the Ducks held on to their lead in a furious battle to begin the second half. UC Davis opened up the second half with three straight scores but the Ducks matched them with four unanswered goals of their own. After trading a goal, the Aggies began their climb back into the game. In the final 10 minutes of the second half, UC Davis scored five straight times, including a shorthanded goal with 15 seconds left to put the game away.
Alex Breiner led the Ducks with five points on three goals and two assists. Dominique Christiansen also had three scores.
UC Davis was paced by the scoring tandem of Gina Hoffmire and Christina Corsa, who had four and five goals, respectively. Corsa also had a pair of assists for a game-high seven points.
Salliebeth Finnegan made six saves for the Ducks while two UC Davis keepers combined for eight saves.
There was a whopping 11 yellow cards were issued in the game, with seven going Oregon's way.
Oregon had defeated UC Davis 14-6 on the road in the regular season.
