04/17/10 | Women's Lacrosse
STANFORD, Calif. – Despite goals from six different players, the Oregon lacrosse team was defeated 18-7 by No. 15 ranked Stanford on Friday night in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game. The Ducks fall to 6-9 (2-2 MPSF) while the Cardinal improves 9-5 (3-1 MPSF). The Ducks will play at UC Davis on Sunday in their final road match of the 2010 regular season.
Bina Barrett led the Ducks with a pair of scores and five other players netted single goals at Stanford as the Ducks outscored the Cardinal 5-4 in the second period. But that was not enough as Stanford, led by Dana Lindsay's game-high six points (five goals, one assist), racked up an insurmountable 14-2 halftime lead and cruised to an 11-goal victory. Oregon is now 0-5 against top-20 teams this season.
Stanford amassed 29 points in the win as the Cardinal had 11 assists on their 18 goals. Oregon had no assists with their seven scores – two coming on free position attempts. Stanford went 3-of-5 from the eight meter mark.
Once again freshman Salliebeth Finnegan played the entire game in the net for the Ducks. She made six saves and had a team-high three ground balls. Oregon's rookie keeper now has 112 saves on the season – the fifth most all-time in program history for a single season and just five stops short of tying Louisa Dorsch's mark for the fourth most.
The Ducks have just two matches left in the 2010 campaign with season finale and senior night scheduled for Oregon's home match with Denver at noon on April 24.
