12/31/10 | Men's Basketball
EUGENE, Ore. – Jeremy Jacob's breakout performance was not enough for the University of Oregon men's basketball team as Arizona spoiled the Ducks' final Pac-10 opener at McArthur Court, downing the hosts 76-57 on Thursday night.
Jacob tallied a season-high 17 points on 7-of-13 shooting to lead the Ducks (7-6, 0-1 Pac-10).
The Wildcats built an 11-2 lead in the first four minutes and UA led by as many as 17 in the first half. Arizona shot 50 percent from the floor in the opening frame to take a 37-22 lead into the break.
UO clawed back to within 12 at 52-40 with 12:05 remaining in the second stanza, but UA did not allow the lead to get any smaller the rest of the way.
Jacob was the only Duck to score in double figures. He also tied with E.J. Singler and Joevan Catron with a team-best four rebounds.
Oregon plays its final game in McArthur Court against Arizona State on Saturday. Opening tip is at 7 p.m.
