Women's Tennis Gets Another Win at Home

Eugene, Ore.,-- The women's tennis team looked comfortable back at home after defeating the University of Portland 5-2 this morning at the Student Tennis Center.
After disappointing matches on the road, the Ducks (6-6) bounced back tough at home winning all three of the doubles matches. Freshman Celine Rolly and senior Anna Powaska teamed up in the No. 1 spot and came away with an 8-6 victory over Portland's Megan Sporndli and Lindsey Griffin.
In the No. 2 spot Claudia Hirt and Carmen Seremeta were the first to finish defeating Jenna Tanzer and Stefanie Doolittle 8-4. Stephanie Macfarlane and Siobhan Cavan played together for the first time this season grabbing another solid victory for Ducks by edging Audree Jenks and Anna Gullickson.
The Ducks won four out of the six singles matches sealing a team victory in a short two and half hour match. Carmen Seremeta finished first in the No. 3 spot and defeated Anna Gullickson in two sets 6-2, 6-0. In the No. 4 spot Stephanie Macfarlane beat Christina Feyen 6-0, 6-3 and Celine Rolly in the No.1 spot clinched the win for Ducks with her 6-3, 6-1 win over Megan Sporndli.
Junior Claudia Hirt made her home debut this morning .After getting back on the courts on the road last weekend, Hirt looked confident back at the Student Tennis Center. She first won doubles with Seremeta and battled out her singles match against Stephanie Doolittle, 6-3, 6-3 giving the Ducks a 5-0 lead.
The Ducks take on Nevada tonight at 6 p.m. at the Student Tennis Center.
