EUGENE, Ore.
? The Oregon volleyball team remained undefeated after its second match of the
Kickoff Classic, with a second straight three-game sweep, handling Cal State
Bakersfield (30-15, 30-20, 30-28) in the first match of the day at McArthur
Court on Saturday.
For the second straight match, junior Gorana Maricic led Oregon
offensively, with 13 kills. Also reaching double figures (11) for the second
day was sophomore Sonja Newcombe.
Sophomore Nevena Djordjevic had 20 assists, while freshman
Rachel Morris again received significant playing time with 13 assists. Junior
Katie Swoboda added 10 digs.
As a team the Ducks hit .343 and totaled nine blocks.
Freshman Coco Yokoyama and sophomore Amanda Westrick also
saw their first action of the season.
Oregon looks
for the clean sweep of the tourney in the final match of the day at 7 p.m. against Kansas
from the Big 12 Conference.
