Women's Tennis Blanks Texas Tech, 7-0

EUGENE ? The University of Oregon women's tennis team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 7-0 victory over Texas Tech at the Student Tennis Center Friday. Dating back to last season, Oregon has won 11 on its last 12 matches.
For the sixth consecutive match, Oregon jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. No. 45-ranked Daria Panova and Dominika Dieskova improved to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in dual play with a win at the No. 1 position. Seniors Ester Bak and Davina Mendiburu also improved to 6-0 in dual play, defeating Texas Tech's Katja Kovacic and Lakann Wagley, 8-3.
TTU's Erin Hunter and Janet Durham defeated Oregon's Anna Leksinska and Jamie Marshall at the No. 2 spot, ending a string of 17 consecutive doubles dual victories for the Ducks.
In singles, Panova improved to 5-0 in dual play with an easy 6-2, 6-1 victory over Texas Tech's Tara Browning. Mendiburu upped her record to 12-1 overall and 5-1 in duals, defeating Katja Kovacic at the No. 3 position.
Dieskova and Monica Hoz de Vila both won in a three set tiebreaker, while Leksinska made it a clean sweep for the Ducks with a victory at the No. 4 position.
"I have a lot of respect for Texas Tech," Oregon head coach Nils Schyllander said. "It was a hard-fought match and I was pleased that our players finished out each match strong."
Oregon returns to the Student Tennis Center Sunday as it plays host to San Diego State at 10 a.m.
