11/17/05 | Women's Volleyball
Oregon (12-15, 1-14 Pacific-10) went into the match with an opportunity to escape the conference cellar and achieve its first sweep of a Pac-10 team since 1996, but came up just short, dropping its third straight five-set contest in conference play.
The Cougars (9-20, 2-14) avenged a three-game sweep against UO on Oct. 22, and jumped over the Ducks into ninth place in the Pac-10 in the process.
Trailing 2-1,
The Ducks were within a point in the deciding game, trailing 6-5, before WSU ended the set on a 9-1 run.
In addition to Djuric, hitter Kelly Russell had 18 kills and 10 digs, and freshman setter Erika Bartruff added a career-high 12 digs to go with 28 assists.
WSU's Brittany Johnson led all players with 21 kills and hit .294. Jalen Pendon added 20 kills, and Jen Barcus had 11 total blocks for the Cougars.
UO plays at No. 3 Washington on Friday before returning home for its final two matches of the season.
