LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
The defending national champion USC volleyball team defeated the University of Oregon in three games (30-14, 30-20, 30-16) in front of 372 fans at the Lyon Center in Los Angeles, Calif., Saturday evening. The Women of Troy remain perfect on the season, improving to 12-0 overall, 3-0 Pacific-10 Conference with the win, while Oregon dropped to 3-10, 0-4.
"USC deserves a lot of credit," Oregon head coach Carl Ferreira said. "We had good attacks and they transitioned well, played great defense and did a lot of things right. It's not a situation where we did something wrong necessarily as much as it is that USC is a great program."
For third time in as many matches, Oregon sophomore outside hitter Jaclyn Jones led the Ducks with 10.5 points (10 kills, one block assist). Junior Lauren Westendorf added six kills in the match while defensively setter Jodi Bell led the way with eight digs. Bell also had a team-high 19 assists.
The Women of Troy controlled every facet of the match, holding the advantage in kills (54-26), digs (47-30) and blocks (5-1). USC did commit more serving errors (9) than Oregon (7), but also had five aces, including two by April Ross, while the Ducks had just one ace by middle blocker Kelly Russell.
Emily Adams led the way for USC with a match-high 16 kills and Keao Burdine added 11.
