Beth Ames, a former All-America midfielder from the University of North Carolina, is in her first year as the program’s graduate assistant coach.
Ames lettered four straight years for the Tar Heels and received third-team All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association, U.S. Lacrosse and www.womenslacrosse.com. Ames led the Tar Heels in scoring for the second consecutive year as a senior in 2004, finishing with 33 goals and one assist for 34 points.
The team captain also was a All-Atlantic Coast Conference and ACC Tournament selection as well as voted the team’s Most Valuable Player. She also made the ACC All-Tourney team junior and senior years. As a sophomore, she started 13 of North Carolina’s 20 games and helped the team to the ACC title and a Final Four appearance and made the Final Four All-Tourney team. She finished her career with 62 goals.
In high school, Ames was a two-time All-America selection at Liverpool High School in Liverpool, N.Y.
She served as a counselor at the North Carolina Lacrosse Camp from 2000 to 2004 and the Oregon Lacrosse Camp this past summer. Ames earned a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from North Carolina.
