Oregon head women’s tennis coach Courtney Nagle announced the addition of Pete Yellico as the Ducks’ assistant coach on Dec. 18, 2023. Yellico will enter his third season in Eugene in 2025-26.
Yellico comes to Eugene after spending the past two seasons as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at the University of Redlands (Division III). He led the women’s side to a Sweet 16 berth in 2022 – the program’s first since 2009 – and a No. 15 national ranking. The Bulldog women finished 23rd nationally in 2023 while the men earned rankings of No. 26 in 2022 and No. 30 in 2023.
“Everywhere Pete goes, he makes those around him better,” Nagle said. “He is a tremendous worker and a passionate leader. It is clear he has a love for the game of tennis and is extremely dedicated to player development, which is very important to our program. We are excited to welcome Pete to Eugene and I can’t wait to see the impact he has on this team.”

While at Redlands, Yellico put together two top-15 recruiting classes in 2023: No. 11 in women’s and No. 15 in men’s. He also oversaw the 11th-ranked doubles team of Bryce Keim and Nils Plutat, who reached the quarterfinal round of the 2023 NCAA Division III men’s tennis championship.
Yellico has Oregon ties, as he spent 10 seasons (2013-22) at Pacific University in Forest Grove, the first five as an assistant before taking over as the head men’s tennis coach in 2018. During his five-year stint as head coach for the Boxers, Yellico compiled an impressive 95-41 overall record and 63-12 mark in Northwest Conference (NWC) play.
He was tabbed 2021 NWC Coach of the Year after reaching a ranking as high as 17th in the country and oversaw 13 all-conference selections as Pacific’s head coach. Additionally, Yellico earned the ITA’s Western Region Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2016 after winning a program-record 16 dual matches.
In 2012, Yellico was recruited by 1993 French Open doubles champion Murphy Jensen to work as tennis pro at the Sea Island Resort in Sea Island, Ga. While there, he instructed juniors and adults with a wide variety of playing experience and skill level while also competing in exhibition matches with Jensen. Yellico was also the hitting partner of WTA pro Emily Harman.
Prior to his career in tennis, Yellico served five years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman Second Class on the U.S.S. John C. Stennis, a nuclear-Powered aircraft carrier. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal and Flag Letter of Commendation from the Secretary of the Navy while serving in Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Yellico graduated from Pacific University in 2017 with his bachelor’s degree in business administration with a finance concentration. He is on track to complete his master’s degree in organizational leadership from the University of Redlands in June 2024.
