2006
Leiter ranked eighth in average and ninth in hits in limited action for the Ducks. The designated hitter and first baseman appeared in 41 games, starting in 23 of them. She had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in her junior season, compiling 65 put outs on defense. Leiter’s two-RBI double brought the Ducks within one in the sixth inning in a game against Utah State on February 17. The Ducks still fell, 7-6. In Pac-10 play, Leiter scored Oregon’s lone run in 2-1 loss to Oregon State on April 26. Her RBI double scoring Jorgenson a week later against Portland State gave the Ducks an early lead, but the Pilots went on to take the contest 3-2. Leiter finished the season with 13 hits and a .241 on-base percentage.
2005
Made 34 starts this season and played in 49 games displaying consistent offensive output. Finished the season fourth on the team with a .284 average. Hit a double in Oregon’s first game of the season and finished the game 1-for-2 with a run scored and finished the season on a high note as well, going 1-for-4 with an RBI in the first game of the NCAA Regionals. The following day, Leiter was 1-for-3 in a 3-2 win over Wichita State. Made her first start of the season Feb. 12 vs. Riverside and went 1-for-2 with a runs scored and an RBI. In all, Leiter had at least one hit in 26 of the 49 games she played. Was 4-for-7 with three runs scored and an RBI in a doubleheader vs. Portland State Apr. 20. Opened Pac-10 play by going 1-for-3 with an RBI in a 5-4 loss to Washington and was 1-for-3 in a 3-1 win over UCLA Apr. 2. Went on a six game hitting streak Feb. 20-Mar. 3 and was 7-for-15 (.466) with three runs scored and a double during that stretch. Earned first-team ESPN the Magazaine Academic All-America honors, becoming the Ducks’ first academic all-American since 1990.
2004
Like the rest of Oregon’s freshman class in 2004, Leiter was expected to make solid contributions in her first season with the program. Becoming the program’s first left-handed first baseman in more than eight years, Leiter had the natural ability both offensively and defensively to make big things happen. A 38 game starter (35 at first base, 3 as DP), Leiter split time with a veteran and when opportunities became available, Leiter seemed to always come through. Started her first game of the season Feb. 6 vs. Florida International and contributed one run and one stolen base. In her next start (vs. Iowa State, Feb. 7), Leiter recorded her first collegiate hit — a single in the second inning which eventually led to a score. On March 4, in a dominating win over Rutgers, Leiter’s two-RBI single in the second inning sparked a five-run rally. She finished the game 1-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored. But it was the following day that Leiter sparked one of the Ducks’ best comebacks of the season. With the Ducks trailing 5-0 in the fourth inning, Leiter hit her first career home run – a three-run shot over the right field fence – to tie the game. The Ducks eventually won the game, 9-8, which was their school-record 14th in a row. In the Ducks’ conference opener, Leiter was also key, finishing the game 1-for-2 with an RBI to help lead Oregon to a 9-8 win over Oregon State. Had her most productive day of the season March 27 vs. Utah, going 4-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. On April 3, Oregon pitcher Ani Nyhus was in a pitchers dual with Stanford ace Laura Severson and both teams were scoreless except for a solo home run by Leiter in the second inning. It was all Oregon needed as it held on to win 1-0. Leiter’s third and final home run of the season was another big one, helping to lead Oregon to a 2-1 win at Washington.
High School
Lettered four years in softball and three in soccer. Lake Stevens High School finished 25-5 in 2003 and was WESCO champions and district champions while finishing fifth in state. The team also won the WESCO league title in 2000 and 2002 as Leiter earned first-team all-area first base in 2002 and 2003. Finished her career with 127 RBI, 29 doubles and 13 triples. Her club team, Lake Breeze, won the NSA state title and ASA state title during Leiter’s tenure and was also the 2001 regional champs. Her mother, Margo Leiter, coached both her high school and club team.
