Complete Effort Vaults Ducks Into Second Place

LAKE Elmo, Minn. – The Oregon women's golf team moved up three spots into second place at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M on Tuesday after all five Ducks shot par-or-better in the second round at Royal Golf Club.Â
The Ducks fired an 8-under 280, the second-lowest score of the day, and are now alone in second at 5-under par with 18 holes remaining. Wake Forest leads the 12-team field at 20 under, and Oregon is followed by Virginia (-4), South Carolina (-1) and USC (+1).Â
Oregon was led by junior Annika Ishiyama, who put together a tremendous bounceback effort with a 3-under 69. It was a 15-stroke improvement from Monday's opening round in which Ishiyama did not count towards the team score with a 12-over 84.
Sophomores Trinity Beth and Shyla Singh were both one stroke back of Ishiyama with 2-under 70s, and junior Tong An also finished in the red with a 1-under 71. Freshman Celina Yeo did not count towards the team score but still put together a solid round with an even-par 72, her second straight par-or-better performance to kick off her collegiate career.Â
How it Happened: The Ducks started the second round on the back nine and were nearly flawless, combining for nine birdies and just one bogey through the first nine holes. The front nine proved to be the tougher side, but Oregon's lineup still put together a strong performance with a combined seven birdies and seven bogeys from the five players.Â
After a tough opening round on Monday, Ishiyama was bogey-free on Tuesday with three birdies. She made birdie on No. 10 to start her round and added another at No. 15, after which she made nine straight pars before another birdie at No. 7.Â
Beth and Singh both made three birdies and just one bogey on the day, and both were bogey-free through at least the first 12 holes.Â
An is Oregon's top player on the leaderboard in a tie for fourth at 2-under par after she posted her second straight 1-under 71. An made a team-high four birdies on Tuesday and is tied for fourth in the field with nine total birdies.
Yeo is also in the individual top 10 in a tie for eighth at 1 under following her even-par performance, giving Oregon two of the 10 total players in the field under par. Yeo made three birdies in her first nine holes on Tuesday, including back-to-back at 17 and 18.Â
