Cross Country Season Starts Saturday

EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon cross country teams begin their respective seasons Saturday morning with the UO men running at the Cowboy Jamboree in Stillwater, Okla., and the UO women competing at the Mike Johnson Classic in Monmouth, Ore.

The men's race at the 88^th running of the Cowboy Jamboree will go off at 6:50 a.m. PT. The Ducks' five-man lineup will feature returners Tayson Echohawk, Juan Gonzalez and Jack Meier, and the freshmen duo of Quentin Nauman and Jayden Warner. The 8K race will take place at the Greiner Family Course.

A replay of the Cowboy Jamboree will be streamed Saturday at 5 p.m. (PT) on ESPN+.

The women are set to race nine athletes at the Mike Johnson Classic at Ash Creek Preserve: Annabelle Carr, Juliet Cherubet, Liliana Hudnut, Landen LeBlond, Allura Markow, Kendall Martin, Sam McDonnell, Ava Parekh and Shani Zakay. Cherubut was an All-American during last year's cross country season and Carr, Parekh and Zakay will be making their UO debuts.

The women's 6K in Monmouth is scheduled for an 11:45 a.m. start.

The Men and Women of Oregon both check in at No. 5 in the most recent USTFCCCA national poll. The Ducks' next meet is the Dellinger Invitational (Oct. 9) at Pine Ridge Golf Club in Springfield.
