Desoisa Shares Lead, Ducks Sit Third at Vuori Invitational

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. — The Oregon men's golf team sits in third place at the Vuori Invitational following the first two rounds of play.
Big Ten Preseason Golfer to Watch Sebastian Desoisa leads the Ducks after an impressive opening day. The sophomore is tied for the individual lead at 4 under after carding a 4-under 67 in the opening round and following with an even-par 71 in the afternoon. Desoisa leads all golfers with 10 birdies so far. Desoisa also found success early in his freshman season last fall, winning the Cal Poly Invitational before becoming a regular in Oregon's lineup and earning All-Big Ten Freshman Team honors.
Oregon remains firmly in contention after posting rounds of 285 and 290 for a 7-over total. The Ducks are seeking their first team victory since winning the 2025 Duck Invitational. UO is behind Arkansas at even par and Colorado at 4 over. BYU and Pacific University round out the top five at 9-over and 11-over, respectively.
Just outside the top 10, Ramil Saelim is tied for 12th at 2 over. The junior, who recorded two top-10 finishes last season, shot matching rounds of 1-over 72 on Monday.
Tim Chang is tied for 33rd at 5 over after opening with an even-par 71 and shooting a 5-over 76 in the second round.
Making his collegiate debut, freshman Carl-Hugo Eriksson contributed counting scores in both rounds. The international standout opened with a 4-over 75, playing his first nine holes at 3 over before settling in with eight pars and one bogey after making the turn. Eriksson maintained that steady rhythm in the afternoon, climbing four spots into a tie for 45th after shooting a 2-over 73. Eriksson has the second-best par-3 scoring average in the field at 2.88.
After a difficult opening round, Jeffrey Kwak responded with a 3-over 74 in the afternoon. The senior climbed seven spots and enters the final round tied for 68th.
How It Happened
Starting on the back nine, Desoisa opened with four consecutive pars before catching fire with four birdies over a five-hole stretch around the turn. He bogeyed the par-3 third and par-5 fifth but responded with back-to-back birdies to close the opening round and earn a share of the lead.
Again starting on the back nine, Desoisa began the second round with three bogeys over his first five holes. He steadied himself with a birdie on the par-3 17th before picking up two more strokes over his final nine holes to finish with an even-par 71 and regain a share of the lead.
Saelim opened with a 1-over 72 to finish the first round tied for 18th. He moved to just outside the top 10 during the afternoon, playing his final nine holes at even par with birdies on the first and fourth holes and bogeys on the second and eighth. Saelim finished the second round with another 1-over 72 and ended the day tied for 12th.
Chang used consecutive birdies on the 10th and 11th holes to begin his opening round before making the turn at even par. A bogey on the fifth briefly moved him over par, but he answered with a birdie on the par-5 eighth to finish with an even-par 71. In the afternoon, Chang made two double bogeys over his final six holes and carded a 5-over 76 to end the day tied for 33rd.
Eriksson opened with a 4-over 75, playing his first nine holes at 3 over before settling in with just one bogey over his final nine. He again responded strongly after making the turn in the second round, following a 5-over opening nine with a bogey-free, 3-under closing stretch. Eriksson birdied the second, eighth and ninth holes to card a 2-over 73 and climb four spots into a tie for 45th.
Kwak bounced back from a difficult opening round with a 3-over 74 in the afternoon, improving his score by 10 strokes. He played his opening nine at 1 over with a birdie on No. 16 before adding another birdie on No. 9 to close the round. The junior climbed seven spots into a tie for 68th entering Tuesday's final round.

The Ducks will remain paired with Colorado and BYU after the field was not repaired because play was suspended due to darkness before every golfer completed the second round. Carl-Hugo Eriksson will be the first Duck to tee off, starting on No. 10 at 8:05 a.m. Jeffrey Kwak will follow at 8:15 a.m., Ramil Saelim at 8:25 a.m., Tim Chang at 8:35 a.m. and Sebastian Desoisa at 8:45 a.m.
