PORTLAND, Ore. — The Oregon men's golf team closed out the third and final round of the Big Ten Championships on Sunday with a 6-over 286 to finish tied for 12th in the 18-team field.
The Ducks finished the tournament with their second straight 6-over round to finish 22-over for the three-day tournament at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
Aiden Krafft surged in the final round to finish tied for 23rd, extending his streak of top-30 finishes to seven, including all six this spring. The senior carded three birdies during a four-hole stretch and finished with a 1-under 69, his eighth round in the 60s this season. He finished as Oregon's top individual on the leaderboard.
UCLA won the Big Ten title at 8-under 832, its second consecutive championship, built largely on an 11-under second round. Illinois shot 4-under in Sunday's final round but finished second. UCLA freshman Josh Kim claimed the individual title at 8-under 202.
How it Happened: Oregon posted its second straight 6-over round Sunday, slipping two spots to finish 12th in the 18-team field while remaining in the middle of a tightly packed leaderboard.
The Ducks began the final round on the back nine and again found more success there, with Aiden Krafft and Ramil Saelim combining for six birdies. Saelim carded a 2-under 33 on the back side, while Krafft went 1-under 34 at the turn.
Krafft stayed steady on the front nine, adding two more birdies to finish with a 1-under 69. Saelim, however, did not record another birdie, posting three bogeys and a double bogey as the front nine proved difficult for the sophomore.
Senior Casper Nerpin closed on a strong note, playing 16 straight bogey-free holes and finishing 1-under on the front nine with a birdie. Jeffrey Kwak shot a 3-over 73 in the final round to finish the tournament at 8-over.
