Women of Oregon Add Three National Qualifiers
05/28/26 | Track and Field
The Ducks also sent five women into Saturday quarterfinals.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oregon women's track and field team added three national qualifiers on day two of the NCAA West First Rounds in Fayetteville, Ark. Freshmen Greyson Glivinski and Alicia Khunou threw their way into the NCAA Championships while Diana Cherotich closed out Thursday's action on the track with a qualifying effort at 10,000 meters.
The Women of Oregon also advanced five athletes into the quarterfinal round which will be contested Saturday at John McDonnell Field.
The top 12 from each regional site then advances to the 2026 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (June 10-13) at Hayward Field in Eugene. All-sessions and single-day ticket packages for the NCAA Championships are currently on sale.
On her second throw of the day, Glivinski got the javelin out to a lifetime best of 52.63m/172-8 which moved her into the lead of flight three. The Silverton, Ore., native was surpassed by just one athlete in her flight and sat in second place with the final 12 entrants to come in flight four. Glivinski's effort was strong enough to hold on to a top-12 spot, finishing eighth overall.
Glivinski is now the No. 4 performer in program history with Thursday's measure.
The Ducks' throwing group added another NCAA qualifier with fellow freshman Khunou in the shot put. She qualified out of flight three with a day's best of 16.58m/54-4.75, good for 10th overall. Khunou will aim for a second national bid Saturday when she joins Oregon teammate and Big Ten champion Marie Josee Bovele-Linaka in the discus.
In the final event on the track, Cherotich ran her way to a second NCAA appearance at 10,000 meters. She finished in a time of 32:31.58 which was 10th in a race for the top-12 spots. The UO sophomore is also entered in Saturday's 5,000 meters.
Aaliyah McCormick and Micaela De Mello were the third and fourth fastest, respectively, to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals of the 100-meter hurdles. McCormick won her heat in 12.93 and De Mello ran an identical time for a season's best, improving the time on her already No. 4 standing in UO history.
The Ducks also got three of their four in the 1500 meters into the next round. Silan Ayyildiz posted the second-fastest time (4:12.14) in the opening round, and Wilma Nielsen and Juliet Cherubet crossed the line together—4:13.40 and 4:13.42—in the second heat.
Up Next: Friday's schedule features 17 qualifying chances across eight events for the UO men. The day begins with the discus where Ben Smith will be after a second NCAA bid having already qualified in the shot put with teammate Kobe Lawrence. Running events start at 3 p.m. PT with the 4x100-meter relay.
