Ducks Set to Host Eugene Regional

For the second straight season, Oregon will host an NCAA Regional. The Ducks earned the No. 14 overall seed and will host Big Sky champion Idaho State, West Coast Conference Champion Saint Mary's and Mississippi State, an at-large selection out of the SEC, Friday through Sunday at Jane Sanders Stadium. Oregon will open the tournament by facing Idaho State Friday at 7 p.m. on ESPNU. Saint Mary's-MSU will be the first game on Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Regional will be pared down to two teams on Saturday and the Regional final will be Sunday. The Ducks earned the right to host a regional after going 40-12 overall and tying for second in the Big Ten Conference at 20-4. Oregon had a final RPI of nine, an overall strength of schedule of nine and a non-conference strength of schedule of four. This is the sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance for the Ducks under coach Melyssa Lombardi and the 26th NCAA appearance all-time in program history. Last season, Oregon advanced to the Women's College World Series for the first time since 2018.Â
NCAA EUGENE REGIONAL OPPONENTS
Oregon and Idaho State played earlier this season in the Oregon Classic in Eugene. The Ducks won, 4-3, in eight innings on Elon Butler's double that scored pinch-runner Presley Lawton. Butler went 3-for-4 in that game with two doubles and two RBI. Oregon now leads the all-time series with the Bengals, 10-1. The Ducks and Saint Mary's have played 26 times previously and Oregon leads the series 22-4. The last meeting was a 4-0 Duck win in 2020. Oregon and Mississippi State also played a game during the 2020 season which the Ducks won 7-2. The series with the Bulldogs is tied at 1-1. This will be Mississippi State's second trip to Eugene for an NCAA Regional. The Bulldogs were part of the 2012 Regional at Howe Field, but did not play the host Ducks. The Bulldogs lost to BYU (4-3, 9 innings) and Portland State (2-0).

DUCKS HONORED BY BIG TEN
Lyndsey Grein, Amari Harper and Stefini Ma'ake were named to the all-Big Ten first team, while Elon Butler was named to the second team. Kaylynn Jones was named to Big Ten All-Defensive Team. Remmington Hewitt was selected as Oregon's Sportsmanship Award honoree. Grein, a two-time all-Big Ten First Team selection, and Harper were unanimous selections. Butler, Ma'ake and Harper received all-Big Ten recognition for the first time. It was also the first all-defensive recognition for Jones. Ma'ake added Big Ten All-Tournament honors to her accolades by hitting two home runs and driving in five runs against Wisconsin.

She's second in WHIP (1.05) and wins (23), and third in strikeouts (195), hits allowed per seven innings pitched (5.07) and strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.75). Grein is fourth in innings pitched (162.1) Â and strikeouts per seven innings pitched (8.4), and fifth in ERA (2.73).
BUTLER OWNS FIVE SINGLE-SEASON RECORDS, NEARS ANOTHER
Elon Butler has already broken or tied five school records this season. She owns the outright single-season records for extra base hits (39), total bases (144) and slugging percentage (.900, if the season ended today). She is tied for the single-season record in doubles (18) and runs (65). Butler's 18 home runs are just one off the school's al-time mark (19).
SHAW NEARS TRIPLES RECORD
April 22 against Oregon State, Ayanna Shaw hit her seventh triple of the season, which leads the Big Ten and ranks seventh nationally. The seven triples are just one back of the school record of eight by Janie Takeda (2014).
GETTING THE RUNNER HOME FROM THIRD
Oregon leads the NCAA with a program-record 36 sacrifice flies. Emma Cox and Stefini Ma'ake lead the team with seven, which ranks 10th nationally. Amari Harper has five. Elon Butler, Taryn Ho, Kaylynn Jones and Rylee McCoy each have three.
BUTLER BETTERS UO HOME RUN MARK
Now with 55 career home runs, Elon Butler, who played her first three years at California, has seven more than Oregon's current record holder, Janelle Lindvall (48, 2013-16). Butler also has three six-RBI games this season and a fourth game with five runs driven in to lead the Ducks with 57 RBI.
CAN'T RUN ON COX
Emma Cox has thrown out 12 base runners (six caught stealing, six picked off) this season. In fact, opposing teams have only attempted 22 stolen bases against her this season on the season - second-fewest in the Big Ten (UCLA, 20).
