Aiden Carter established four outright personal bests on day one of the decathlon.
AZUSA, Calif. – Oregon sophomore Aiden Carter had four outright lifetime bests and added an outdoor best Thursday, and sits in fourth place after day one of the decathlon at the Bryan Clay Multis. Carter is fourth overall and third among collegians in the field with 4,101 points.

The Group A decathlon in Azusa, Calif., resumes Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the 110-meter hurdles.

In his first competition since finishing ninth in his NCAA Indoor debut, Carter established personal bests of 10.83 in the 100 meters, 7.53m/24-8.5 in the long jump, 13.14m/43-1.5 in the shot put and 49.76 in the 400 meters. He also tallied an outdoor-best clearance of 1.95m/6-4.75 in the high jump.

Thursday marked Carter's first time under 11 and 50 seconds in the 100 and 400, respectively, and his first time beyond 13 meters in the shot put.

Ben Barton of BYU leads the competition after day one with 4,326 points followed by Carter Morton of Northern Iowa (4,221) and Callum Newby (4,150) competing unattached.

After the hurdles event, day two of the decathlon features the discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500.

Notable: Liisa-Maria Lusti did not finish day one of the heptathlon … ran 14.36 in the 100-meter hurdles but did not start the remaining three events.

Ticket packages for the Ducks' outdoor home schedule are currently on sale. The team is set to host the Oregon Team Invitational (April 17-18), Oregon Twilight (May 8) and the NCAA Championships in June.
