
Carter Finishes Fifth at Bryan Clay Multis

The Brentwood, Tenn., native scored a lifetime-best 7,497 points in the decathlon.
AZUSA, Calif. – Oregon sophomore Aiden Carter scored a lifetime-best 7,497 points to finish fifth in the top section of the Bryan Clay decathlon. Over the course of the two-day competition, Carter established personal bests in seven of the 10 events including the 110-meter hurdles and pole vault during Friday's action.

Carter began the day with a time of 14.03 in the hurdles, lowering his best from his 14.23 showing at the Jim Bush Legends meet earlier this season. He followed with a mark of 33.38m/109-6 in the discus and a clearance of 4.70m/15-5 in the pole vault. That make tied his outdoor best from last season's Bryan Clay Multis.

The Brentwood, Tenn., closed out his first decathlon of the year with a 47.28m/155-1 toss in the javelin and a time of 5:05.85 in the 1500 meters. Carter entered the season with a previous decathlon best of 7,235 points from last year's meet in Azusa.

Ben Barton of BYU won the Group A decathlon with 7,998 points.
