Big Ten Championship
Ducks Tied For Seventh After Round One
04/24/26 | Women's Golf
GLENDALE, Calif. – The Oregon women's golf team got off to a solid start but struggled to maintain that momentum on the back nine in the opening round of the 2026 Big Ten Championships on Friday at Glendale Country Club.
The No. 6 Ducks closed the opening round with a 10-over 290 to sit in a tie for seventh in the 18-team field. No. 2 USC leads the field at 3-under par with Illinois and Ohio State tied for second at 2 over.Â
Looking to defend its Big Ten title from a year ago, Oregon will aim to move up the leaderboard when play continues with the second round on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. PT. The Ducks are playing without the reigning Big Ten individual champion and the top-ranked amateur in the world in Kiara Romero, who is foregoing the conference championship to play in the LPGA major at the Chevron Championship this weekend.Â
How it Happened: The Ducks were second behind only USC midway through the first round, with Oregon's four counting scorers combining to shoot even par across the front nine. The back nine proved to be more challenging, including a stretch of 10 bogeys and a triple bogey between holes 14-17.Â
Sophomore Tong An finished as the top Duck on the leaderboard with a 1-over 71, and was followed by Darae Chung (+2), Sophie Han (+3) and Karen Tsuru (+4) to round out the team's counting scores.Â
An was 1 under at the turn and 2 under through 11 holes before making three bogeys down the stretch, and Chung was 2 over through 13 holes but bogeyed three of her final five. Han opened with 13 straight pars and made a birdie at No. 14, but followed with a triple at No. 15 and a bogey at No. 17.Â
Tsuru made just her second appearance of the season as she returns from injury. She was 1 over after a birdie at No. 11 but then bogeyed three of her next four holes.Â
Ducks on the Leaderboard:
T-7. Oregon — 290 (+10)
T-16. Tong An — 71 (+1)
T-22. Darae Chung — 72 (+2)
T-30. Sophie Han — 73 (+3)
T-41. Karen Tsuru — 74 (+4)
T-55. Annika Ishiyama — 76 (+6)
Up Next: Oregon will tee off from hole No. 1 beginning at 8:30 a.m. PT in Saturday's second round.Â
