Krafft Dazzles With 5-under 65
04/14/26 | Men's Golf
SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Oregon men's golf senior Aiden Krafft put together one of the best rounds of his career on Tuesday, firing a 5-under 65 in the second round of the 79th Western Intercollegiate at Pasatiempo Golf Club.Â
On the strength of a stellar 6-under 29 on the front nine, Krafft matched the low round of his collegiate career with two eagles and five birdies. His 5-under 65 is tied for the second-lowest individual round of the tournament so far.Â
Oregon finished the second round with a 4-over 354, a six-stroke improvement from Monday's opening round. The Ducks remain in ninth place in the field at 14-over par going into Wednesday's final round, with USC leading at 16 under.Â
How it Happened: Krafft was flawless on the front nine, starting his round with a birdie before putting together a stellar four-hole stretch going into the turn. After four straight pars, Krafft made eagle at No. 6, a birdie at No. 8 and a second eagle at No. 9 for a 29 on the front side.Â
"I was hitting my irons really close and I was making the putts that I needed to on the front," Krafft said. "My driver was solid too and it was just a good front nine overall. That's my best, 29, so that was pretty cool."
Krafft stayed hot after the turn, making back-to-back birdies at 12 and 13 to get to 8 under. The senior was flirting with the lowest round in program history before a pair of double bogeys at 15 and 16, but he rebounded with a birdie at 17 to secure a 5-under 65.Â
Krafft's terrific round vaulted him up 36 spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for eighth at 3-under par going into Wednesday's final round. USC's Jack Buchanan is the individual leader at 11-under par.Â
Ramil Saelim came in with a 1-over 71, which included three birdies in five holes between No. 9 and No. 13.Â
Sebastian Desoisa and Casper Nerpin each carded a 2-over 72, and Jeffrey Kwak rounded out the counting scores with a 4-over 74.Â
Oscar Lent put together a strong 1-over 71 while competing as an individual, and he joined Krafft with an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole.Â
