03/08/26 | Men's Golf
BANDON, Ore. – The Oregon men's golf team sits comfortably in second place after the opening round of the Bandon Dunes Championship while four Ducks will enter Monday's round in the top-10 individually.
The Ducks shot a 16-under 268 for the opening round at Pacific Dunes on Sunday, just five strokes behind the leading Oregon State. The home-state teams are well ahead of the rest of the field, 11 stokes ahead of Utah Tech and Sacramento State who share possession of third place finishing 5-under in the first round.
Aiden Krafft and Jeffrey Kwak share possession of second place after shooting 5-under 66 through 18 holes. Ramil Saelim and Casper Nerpin both finished under par to round out the counting scores for Oregon, as did Oscar Lent who leads the four Ducks competing as individuals.
How It Happened
The Ducks teed off at Pacific Dunes for what would be their best opening round of the season by six strokes. Kwak opened up on No. 8 and was the most consistent golfer for Oregon today, carding five birdies and broke even on the rest of the course.
Krafft eagled on No. 10, but made up for the sole blemish with two birdies on the back nine. The senior moved up the leaderboard with four birdies between Nos. 1 and 6 to match Kwak's 66 and the lowest round of the season.
Saelim finished 4-under with six birdies to offset a pair of bogeys, and Nerpin notched two birdies on the third and eighth hole to round out the Oregon counting scores with a 69. Sebastian Desoisa collected an even round with two birdies to even out two bogeys.
Oscar Lent turned in the best individual scorecard of the day collecting three birdies to score a 68 for the round. Kyreece Romero and Tim Chang each finished 2-over with five holes under par between them. Teddy Vigna finished 5-over on the day, but notched a pair of birdies as well.
The Ducks' 16-under round is the best opening round this season and matches the best round under par this year equaling the team 16-under third round at the Amer Ari Invitational. 16-under marks the seventh lowest round to par in program history, and 268 equals the seventh best round score all-time.
