Ducks Place Second at Pacific Dunes

BANDON, Ore. – The Oregon men's golf team concluded the Bandon Dunes Championship with its best finish of the season, coming in second with a 14-under performance across three rounds.
The Ducks shot a 16-under 268 for the opening round at the Pacific Dunes course on Sunday, equaling the seventh-lowest round to par in program history. Despite the stellar first round, the UO lineup finished 17 strokes behind Oregon State, who ultimately took home both the team and individual title.
The home state teams finished well ahead of the rest of the field, with Oregon coming in 10 strokes ahead of Seattle, who placed third. Only the top-four teams finished under par for the tournament.
Sophomore Ramil Saelim was the most consistent player in the UO lineup, finishing 5-under to secure a fifth-place finish and his best result of the season. Competing as an individual, freshman Oscar Lent matched Saelim's 5-under 208 for the tournament.
How It Happened
After the Ducks opened the tournament with the seventh-lowest round to par in program history, the settled in second place behind Oregon State and remained there for the duration of play.
Saelim started the weekend with two rounds under par, and shot 1-over on Tuesday to card the Ducks' best result of the tournament. Lent went 68-68-71 for the second top-five finish of his freshman season.
Jeffrey Kwak and Aiden Krafft also finished under par with equal 2-under 211 scores for the tournament after opening play with rounds of 66 on Sunday. The duo finished in a tie for 13th, while freshman Sebastian Desoisa rounded out his weekend with an even 213 to place 20th. Desoisa turned in the lowest scorecard for the Ducks in the final round with a 4-under 68.
Casper Nerpin closed out the lineup with a 2-over tournament finish after shooting a low 67 in the second round. Individual Kyreece Romero matched Nerpins' score to finish in a tie for 30th. Tim Chang turned in his best round of the tournament with a 72 in the final round, while freshman Teddy Vigna ended up with a 10-over 233 after three rounds.
