Ducks Sweep Saturday Doubleheader

UO takes down UC Riverside, Seattle U.
EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon women's tennis team extended its winning streak to four straight matches while remaining perfect at home after sweeping a Saturday doubleheader with UC Riverside and Seattle U at the Student Tennis Center, winning both matches by an identical 4-0 score.
The Ducks (7-1) improved to 6-0 in Eugene on the spring season, with five wins coming by way of a sweep. The freshman doubles team of Hadley Appling and Virginia Crocker went 2-0 on the day while running their dual record to 5-0. Bridget Mihulka also remained unbeaten this spring in singles play, winning both of her matches to push her record to 7-0.
Oregon went a combined 4-1 in doubles play, earning both doubles points on the day, while going 6-0 across singles play in the two matches. The Ducks improved their team dual doubles record to 14-4 to go with a 29-4 combined mark in singles play this spring.
In the day's first match with UC Riverside, UO got straight-set singles victories from Crocker, Patsy Daughters and Mihulka to close out the sweep. Against Seattle U in the nightcap, Tilde Jagare, Hinata Furutani and Mihulka each earned team points in straight-set fashion.
Jagare, playing at the top spot in the lineup, improved to 5-1, while Crocker is 5-1 this season at the third position. Furutani improved to 4-0 in her freshman season during singles play, and Daughters, a sophomore, pushed her record to 4-1.
The Ducks fly south to take part in the Red-Blue Invite which begins Friday in Tucson, Ariz., where they will take on Grand Canyon, Denver and host Arizona over two days.
