ON DECK
This week, Oregon visits brand new Stanford Softball Stadium for the Cardinal Classic. The Ducks open competition Friday against Cal State Fullerton. It's the first of two meetings with the Titans this season. The teams will also play next week at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic. Oregon will then play Kentucky twice - once on Friday and once on Saturday. The Ducks and Wildcats last met in 2019. Prior to that meeting, the previous five games in the series all came in an NCAA Super Regional. The Ducks will play two games on Sunday to round out the tournament - Cal Poly and host Stanford. The Ducks came from behind to defeat Stanford two-games-to-one in the 2025 Eugene Regional. After the Ducks evened the series at 1-1 with a 15-5 win in game two. Dez Patmon hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh of game three to give the Ducks a 10-7 win.
GREIN NO-NO MAKES HISTORY
Senior All-American Lyndsey Grein became the first Duck to throw a no-hitter in a season opener in program history as she led No. 5 Oregon to a 3-0 victory over Missouri Feb. 6 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic. Grein's no-hitter was the first for a Duck since Stevie Hansen held Utah Valley hitless in a six-inning run-rule win. It was the first seven-inning no-hitter for Oregon since Makenna Kliethermes went the distance against LMU in 2021. Grein's 14 strikeouts were the most by a Duck since Kliethermes struck out 15 in the 2022 season opener against Ole Miss
SPENCER RETURNS TO FORM
After struggling last season, junior Taylour Spencer's opening weekend was a return to the form that made her an Pac-12 all-freshman selection in 2024. In three games, Spencer went 1-0 with a 1.75 ERA. She struck out nine and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits.
PITCHING NOTES
Led by Lyndsey Grein's no-hitter against Missouri, the Ducks put up some solid pitching numbers during the opening weekend. Most impressive is the Ducks' 9.26 strikeouts per seven innings pitched, which ranks eighth nationally. Oregon also posted a 2.06 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. Both of those marks are fourth in the Big Ten.
JONES NAMED TO NFCA ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
After hitting .400 (6-for-15) with three RBI, Kaylynn Jones was named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team. Addison Amaral (.364) and Ayanna Shaw (.353) also hit over .300 for the tournament.
CAN'T RUN ON COX
Emma Cox threw out four base runners (three caught stealing, one picked off) over the first five games of the 2026 season. She's fourth nationally and tops in the Big Ten in throwing runners out.
NONCONFERENCE SUCCESS UNDER LOMBARDI

DUCKS CELEBRATE 60 YEARS OF SOFTBALL AND 10 YEARS AT THE JANE IN 2026
Oregon is celebrating 60 years of softball at Oregon and 10 seasons at Jane Sanders Stadium. Dr. Becky L. Sisley was hired by the University of Oregon in the mid-1960s and was the first softball coach at Oregon when that program was housed within the Physical Education Department. In 1975-76 she was integral to Oregon's implementation of Title IX as softball and other sports moved into the Athletic Department for the first time and subsequently coached Oregon to the AIAW World Series in 1976. The Ducks' first on-campus facility - called Oregon Field - opened in 1979. It was located where the hammer throw area at Hayward Field currently resides. As the Ducks' track and field programs expanded, Howe Field, the former home of the baseball program, was retrofitted for softball and the team moved in prior to the 1987 season. Two seasons later, the Ducks made their first NCAA Women's College World Series appearance. Oregon started becoming a regular NCAA Tournament participant in the late 1990s, and then became a mainstay at the Women's College World Series in the mid-2010's. It was during this decade that football alum Bob Sanders and his family came forth with a donation that funded the construction of Jane Sanders Stadium, which was named after Bob's wife. In all, the Sanders Family donated more that $16 million toward the construction of the new facility, with significant contributions also coming from Sisley and others. "The Jane" opened to a sold out stadium on March 24, 2016, as the Ducks defeated Stanford, 2-0. In 10 seasons, Oregon is 149-52 (.741) at The Jane.
