Anderson Shares Individual Title as Ducks Finish Third at Saint Mary's
10/21/26 | Men's Golf
SEASIDE, Calif. — The Oregon men's golf team finished third at the Saint Mary's Invitational on Wednesday, closing the three-day tournament at 17-under par. Sophomore Adam Anderson led the way for the Ducks, earning a share of the individual title at 10-under.Â
Anderson fired rounds of 69, 68 and 69 to finish in a four-way tie atop the individual leaderboard. Competing in just his second tournament as a Duck, Anderson claimed his first collegiate individual title.Â
"My ball striking was really good throughout the tournament, and I was able to stay consistent because of the work I've put in with my coaches [Casey Martin and Jeff Quinney]," Anderson said. "This week means a lot to me because it shows that the work I've been putting in is paying off. I want to build off this momentum, keep improving and help our team win events."Â
The Ducks secured back-to-back top-three finishes, matching their winning score of 17-under at the Oregon State Invitational earlier this month. The performances mark the first time in Oregon's last seven tournaments, dating back to last season, that the Ducks have posted consecutive scores of 17-under or better.Â
How it Happened Â
Anderson capped his championship performance with a 3-under 69, recording five birdies against two bogeys in Wednesday's final round. After playing his opening nine holes at even par, the sophomore caught fire down the stretch, playing his final 12 holes at 5-under with three birdies in a four-hole stretch from holes 7 through 10. Needing a birdie on hole 18 to clinch a share of the individual title, the Ventura, Calif., native delivered, closing out his first collegiate victory in dramatic fashion.Â
Sebastian Desoisa continued his strong start to his sophomore campaign, earning his second consecutive top-10 finish. The preseason Big Ten Golfer to Watch endured a difficult start to Wednesday's final round, sitting at 3-over through three holes following a bogey and double bogey. Desoisa settled in to play the remainder of his front nine at even par before carding back-to-back birdies on holes 10 and 11. He added another birdie on No. 18 to finish his back nine at 3-under, closing with an even-par 72 to earn a share of 10th place at 6-under for the tournament.Â
Ramil Saelim rebounded from a 4-over 76 on Tuesday with a 3-under 69 in Wednesday's final round. After making the turn at 2-over, the junior recorded five birdies over his final nine holes to shoot a 5-under 31 on the back nine, helping Oregon secure a third-place finish.Â
Tim Chang carded a 4-over 76 in Wednesday's final round to round out the Ducks' counting scores. The junior played both the front and back nines at 2-over before closing his round strong with a birdie on hole 18.Â
