
Ducks Rally in Fourth to Beat Michigan

No. 13 Oregon head home with a 14-2 overall record and 5-1 mark in Big Ten play.
ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The No. 13 Oregon volleyball team saved a pair of set points in the fourth set to come away with a 25-17, 25-16, 20-25, 27-25 road win at Michigan. The Ducks' five-match win streak is their longest in Big Ten play since joining the league in 2024.

Alanah Clemente led the team with 15 kills while hitting .414 against the Wolverines, good for her fifth-consecutive match with at least 15 kills. The UO sophomore also had six blocks and four digs Saturday. She was joined in double figures by Sjakkie Donkers who tallied 14 kills and 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the year.

Dalia Virlan was third on the team with nine kills (.533) in the middle. She added six blocks, two service aces and two digs. Virlan now has an ace in 10-consecutive matches. The sophomore tandem of Reese Sheppard and Maila Ribeiro picked up 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

Fifth-year setter Marina Crownover filled the box score with 41 assists, nine digs, six kills and an ace.

How It Happened: In what turned into the closeout fourth set for the Ducks, Michigan (11-6, 2-4 B1G) led 21-17 with eyes on forcing a decisive fifth frame. Oregon began to clip away before pulling even at 23-all with the help of a UM attack error. The Wolverines eventually had set points at 24-23 and 25-24 but Crownover turned to Donkers and Clemente, respectively, who answered with kills to extend play.

With the score tied at 25-25, Valentina Vaulet had a kill to end an extended rally that included a pair of digs from Virlan who had served and a save-turned-assist from Iva Sucurovic. Oregon made good on its first match point with a tandem block from Clemente and Sucurovic.

Vaulet began her career at Michigan (2023-24) before transferring to Oregon.

In a contrast of two halves, Oregon controlled the first two sets that only featured a combined five ties and two lead changes. Sets three and four, however, had a combined 23 ties and seven lead changes.

The Ducks jumped out to the 2-0 match lead, clinching each of the first two sets with blocks. Clemente and Virlan combined for a stuff to end the first while Vaulet and Alaina Pollard teamed up for a block to end the second.

In the third, the team scrapped their way to a 20-20 tie late in the frame before Michigan put together a five-point run to get on the scoreboard. The Wolverines had seven of their 12.5 total team blocks in that third set including two in the final five points.

Oregon finished the match with 11.0 total blocks, tying its season high.
