Ducks Return Home to Host New Mexico, GCU
08/26/25 | Women's Soccer
The third week of the season finds Oregon hosting New Mexico on Thursday (6:30 p.m.) and Grand Canyon on Sunday (11 a.m.). This will be the first visit to Papé Field for either school. The Lobos defeated the Ducks, 3-1, last season, while the Lopes edged Oregon, 1-0, in 2023.
ONE-TIMERS
• Oregon has allowed just one goal through its first four games. That's the best defensive effort by a Duck team since the 2014 squad also held the opposition to one goal in its first four games.
• Six different players have scored for the Ducks this season. In Sunday's 3-0 win against Hawai'i, fifth-year players Sydney Chura and Cailin Bloom registered their first career NCAA goals (Chura scored 70 goals at the NAIA level).
• Carly Cormack also found the net against Hawai'i, scoring a goal on the same field where she won the 2024 high school state title.
• With a 1-1 tournament record, Oregon claimed the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff title by virtue of goal differential (plus-2).
• Tracy Joyner now has a 129-78-28 career record. Prior to Oregon, she built winning programs at a junior college (41-15-7 at Santa Rosa JC), at an NCAA Division II school (36-25-12 at San Francisco State) and at the DI level (49-37-8 at UC Davis).
• Sixth-year player Taylor Bryan opened the season with her second career two-goal game, and first at Oregon, Aug. 14 against Weber State. They were her 11th and 12th career goals. Miya Alamares and Lauren Kenny also found the net against the Wildcats.
• Aug. 17 versus Portland, the Ducks limited the Pilots to just two shots on goal in a 0-0 draw..
• Oregon has two alums playing professionally in the NWSL: Chardonnay Curran (Chicago Red Stars) and Leah Freeman (Bay FC).
USC GAME MOVED
The game between Oregon and USC has been moved to Friday, Oct. 3 at 1 p.m. The game was initially scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4.
CORMACK SCORES IN SPECIAL HOMECOMING
Sydney Chura took advantage of a defensive mistake to score early and Hawaii native Carly Cormack scored a goal on the field where she won the 2024 state high school championship as the Ducks closed out the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff with a 3-0 victory over Hawai'i Aug. 24 at the Waipi'o Soccer Complex. Cailin Bloom added a late goal in the 88th minute, the first career goal for the fifth-year player from Dixon, Calif. Oregon bounced back from a disappointing 1-0 loss to Sacramento State (Aug. 21) to claim the Outrigger Soccer Kickoff title by virtue of goal differential (plus-2). It was Oregon's first win in four tries against Hawai'i.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRACE FOR TAYLOR BRYAN
Taylor Bryan helped Oregon win its 2025 season-opener by scoring two goals on her birthday - Aug. 14 - in the Ducks' 4-0 victory over Weber State. She scored Oregon's first goal in the 19th minute and its third in the 66th minute. It was Bryan's second career two-goal game and her first as a Duck. Her other brace came Oct. 22, 2022, against Virginia when Bryan was at Virginia Tech. In addition to Bryan, freshman Miya Alamares scored her first career goal against the Wildcats, while Lauren Kenny knocked in her second. Sydney Chura, Carly Cormack and Alexis Cockrill-Gonzalez all recorded assists in the season opener. In goal, Caeley Goldstein made seven saves to earn the win.
