Oregon beat Hope International for its eighth win of the season.
MALIBU, Calif. – The Oregon beach volleyball team closed out the regular season with a split on the second day of the Pepperdine Duals. The Ducks got their day started with a 4-0 win over Hope before falling to host Pepperdine. Oregon will enter next week's MPSF Championships (April 23-25) with an 8-18 record.
Natasha George and Liz Rossi were the first Ducks on the board with a 21-13, 21-13 win on court four, followed closely by another sweep—21-15, 21-9—by Gwen Fife and AJ Slojkowski at No. 2 pairs. With the dual win within a point, Alex Kriz and Valerie Peterson teamed up for a victory in the No. 3 spot in the lineup and clinched the team win.
At No. 1 pairs, Bella Gamache and Ella Tyus completed the sweep with a 21-12, 21-12 triumph against Addie Mathias and Rachael Street. The result was Tyus' 43rd career win, individually, which ties Ashley Schroeder (2021-24) for second place in program history.
In the weekend final, the host Wave had straight-set wins in four of five duals. Gamache and Tyus won the first set at No. 1 pairs against Kate Clermont and McKenna Thomas but the Pepperdine duo battled back for the 15-21, 21-16, 15-10 victory on the final court in play.
