Ducks Finish Eighth at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Oregon men's golf team wrapped play at the 78th Western Intercollegiate presented by Titleist on Wednesday, firing a 2-under 348 as a team in the final round to finish in a tie for eighth place.
The Ducks finished with a 54-hole total of 1,063 (+13) at Pasatiempo Golf Course but were one of only two teams to shoot under par in Wednesday's final round. San Diego State took home the team title at 8 under.
Three Ducks carded rounds under par in the finale. Eric Doyle put together Oregon's lowest round of the tournament with a 3-under 67. He was joined in the red by Aiden Krafft and Ramil Saelim, who shot 2-under and 1-under, respectively.
Doyle, Krafft, Saelim and Leach all finished in the top 30 for the week at Pasatiempo. Leach ranked 21st in the field at 2 over, with Krafft and Saelim just behind him tied for 22nd at 3 over. Doyle tied for 30th after his 4-over 214.
How It Happened
Doyle led the Ducks on the day with six birdies. The senior sat at 2 under after birdies on two of his first four holes before a double bogey on No. 5 put him back at even. Doyle responded well, making birdie on four of the next five holes. His lone blemish on the back nine came on No. 15 when he made bogey, but he was able to move 29 spots up the leaderboard with his 3-under day.
Krafft came out of the gates firing, carding four birdies and five pars on the front nine. He added a fifth birdie on No. 13 before three bogeys in a row brough him back to 2 under. Saelim put a double bogey on the card at No. 2, but it was the lone blemish on the front nine as he moved under par with a birdie and an eagle. He finished the round 1 under after two birdies and two bogeys on the back.
Leach finished the day 1-over par, carding three birdies and five bogeys. Leach led the Ducks with 11 pars on the day. Jeffrey Kwak rounded out Oregon's counting scores with a 3-over 73.
