Ducks Fall in Regular-Season Finale
03/02/25 | Women's Basketball
SEATTLE — In its final tune-up before the Big Ten Tournament, the Oregon women's basketball team closed the regular season with a 64-56 loss at rival Washington on Sunday at Alaska Airlines Arena.
With results from earlier in the day, the Ducks (19-10, 10-8) were locked into the eight seed for the upcoming Big Ten Tournament before their game hit halftime. The seed secures a first-round bye, as UO will meet ninth-seeded Indiana in the second round on Thursday.
Deja Kelly led all players with her 22 points, which equaled her season high, to go with five rebounds, four steals and two assists. Peyton Scott added 10 points and three assists. For Kelly, it marked her fourth 20-point effort over the last five games and her seventh 20-point game this season.

Down just three at halftime, poor shooting in the second half (7-for-29) hurt the Ducks in their comeback bid. Washington (18-12, 9-9) led by as many as 10 in the second half before UO trimmed its deficit to three with less than three minutes to go.
Oregon held the Huskies without a field goal over the game's final four and half minutes, but UW connected on its final six free throw tries down the stretch.
How It Happened: The Ducks started the game by scoring seven of the game's first nine points, led by five from Peyton Scott during that stretch. The Huskies responded to tie the game, 7-7, and took their first lead with a 3-pointer midway through the quarter, 10-9.
UO scored the final eight points of the first quarter, including 3-pointers from both Kelly and Scott, to take a 19-12 lead. Kelly led Oregon with nine points in the quarter while Scott added eight, as the duo accounted for 17 of their team's 19 points.
The Huskies grasped momentum to begin the second, scoring the first nine points to take a two-point lead and force an Oregon timeout. Down three as the quarter passed the halfway point, Nani Falatea knocked down a tying 3-pointer from the corner, only to see UW score the next seven to open up a 33-26 advantage.
After two Ehis Etute free throws, Katie Fiso made it a three-point game at the break with a layup as the clock expired to take the Ducks into the locker room down 33-30. Eight of UO's 11 first-half turnovers came in the second quarter, helping Washington to a 14-7 lead in points off turnovers. UW also owned a 16-4 edge in points in the paint in the first half.

After a pair of free throws by Amina Muhammad to begin the second half, the Huskies proceeded to go on a 7-0 run to stretch their lead to 40-32. Later in the period, a four-point play by the Huskies gave them their largest lead of the day at 10 points. The Ducks shot just 3-for-12 from the field in the third, with seven of their points coming from the free throw line, as they trailed by 49-43 headed into the fourth.
Oregon's deficit sat at 10 points as the fourth quarter moved over the five-minute mark, but the Ducks went on a 7-0 spurt to trim UW's lead to just three, 58-55, with a little less than three minutes to play. The Huskies hit their last six free throws in the final minutes to push their lead back to eight and come away with a 64-56 win.
Notable: Oregon clinched a first-round bye ahead of its first Big Ten Tournament and will enter as the eight seed ...The teams split the regular-season series and the Ducks now lead the all-time series 57-55 … Kelly matched her season high with 22 points, with this being her team-leading seventh 20-point game on the season and four of those coming over the last five games.
Up Next: The No. 8-seed Ducks will take on ninth-seeded Indiana on Thursday in the second round of the 2025 TIAA Big Ten Tournament in Indianapolis (9 a.m. PT, Big Ten Network).
