
Ducks Win Two at Corban Invitational

Oregon beats Portland and Sacramento State on the first day of the season.
EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon beach volleyball team got its season started Friday with wins over Portland and Sacrament State on day one of the Corban Invitational in Salem, Ore. The Ducks clinched both duals at No. 5 pairs and junior Natasha George, a two-time winner Friday, reached 25 career victories.
In the opener, Oregon jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first wave of play which saw sweeps at the No. 2 and 4 spots in the lineup. George and freshman Liz Rossi clinched the dual with their 21-11, 21-12 win on court five. The UO pair beat Melissa Cormack and Hannah Debban for the team's third point.
George moves into a tie for sixth with Ally Haden on the program's all-time individual wins list.
The Ducks completed the 5-0 result with straight-set victories at the No. 1 and 3 spots, respectively. At No. 3 pairs, Eugene native Gwen Fife and freshman Sofia Taylor secured the final point with their 21-16, 21-15 victory.

Similar to their first match, the Ducks led 2-0 after the first wave with George and Rossi up to the No. 4 spot in the lineup and Landree Coats and AJ Slojkowski picking up their second win of the day on court two. Both wins came after dropping the first set. Coats and Slojkowski played into extra points at 28-26 in the second set to extend play.
Sacramento State, playing its first match, got on the scoreboard with a win at No. 3 pairs.
The Ducks turned to Kendall Clark and Presley McCaskill for their third and decisive point. The pair also lost the first set but rallied for a 17-21, 21-19, 15-12 triumph at the No. 5 spot. Clark and McCaskill had played the exhibition match in the opener against Portland. With the result, Oregon clinched the win at 3-1 before Sacramento State grabbed a second point on court one.
