10/28/25 | Women's Soccer
ROSEMONT, Ill. – Lauren Kenny, who scored the game-winning goal in the final minutes of the Ducks' 2-1 upset of No. 8 Washington on Sunday, has been named the Big Ten defensive player of the week, the conference announced on Tuesday. It was Kenny's first career game-winning goal.
The junior from San Ramon, Calif., started and played 89 minutes at defensive midfielder on Sunday. She tracked down a cross that deflected off the far post and scored from point-blank range with 2:00 remaining in the match as Oregon became the first Big Ten team to defeat the Huskies this season.
It was the Ducks' first win over a top -10 team since defeating No. 3 Stanford, 2-1, in the 2020 season. It was also the program's third all-time win over a top-10 team.
Kenny is the first Duck to be honored by the conference since Oregon joined the Big Ten prior to the 2024 season.
