
Ducks Wrap Up First Fall Tournament

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Oregon women's tennis team finished its first fall event at the Jon Messick Invitational Sunday, grabbing two singles wins to go with a doubles victory at the CSU Tennis Complex.
On a day filled with primarily consolation matches and extra contests, freshman Patsy Daughters and sophomore Tilde Jagare each earned three-set wins on Sunday. The doubles duo of Marjorie Souza and Karin Young earned a victory in the consolation in their flight.
In her first collegiate event, Daughters finished off a perfect weekend in singles, going 3-0 after a 6-1, 4-6, 10-4 win against Wyoming's Eugenia Ceinos. In doubles, Daughters went 1-1 on the weekend.
Jagare overcame a first-set tiebreaker loss to win the next two sets against Sydney Schnell of Weber State, 6-7 (5), 6-2, 10-8, for her first singles win of the weekend.
After two straight wins, Olivia Symons moved through to the final of her bracket but was forced to withdraw due to an injury.
Overall, the Ducks posted a combined 12-8 singles mark to go with a 15-10 doubles record. The pairs of Marjorie Souza and Karin Young, Candela Aparisi and Julia Visaya, and Tilde Jagare and Olivia Symons all tied for the team lead with three doubles wins.
Oregon's next fall event is the ITA Regionals in Berkeley, Calif., which gets underway on Friday, Oct. 11.
