EUGENE, Ore. – With just one month remaining until the start of the postseason, the Oregon track and field team is looking to add to its season credentials with trips to the Bryan Clay and Beach Invitational meets in Azusa and Long Beach, Calif., respectively and a hometown meet Saturday at the Lane Invite.
Competition begins Thursday at the Bryan Clay Invitational with day one of the multis and the distance carnival. The meet will be streamed on FloTrack beginning Thursday at 6 p.m.
The decathlon begins at 2 p.m. with Arthur Katahdin in Group A, followed by the heptathlon at 3 p.m. with Colleen Uzoekwe and Gianna Bullock in Group A and B, respectively. Uzoekwe carries a personal best of 5,349 points, good for the No. 10 performer in program history.
Day one of the Bryan Clay Invitational also features distance races in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and at 10,000 meters. The top sections of the steeplechase start at 6:45 p.m. with Giuliano Scasso entered for the UO men and Katie Clute and Samantha McDonnell on the women's side.
Scasso ran a top-30 national time of 8:49.80 at the Oregon Preview.
Invitational sections of the men's 10,000 meters are scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. with Devin Hart and Izaiah Steury in heat one and Kutoven Stevens in heat two.
Day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational—Friday—will coincide with the start of the Beach Invitational, a throws-focus meet for the Ducks. The opening day in Long Beach features competition in the hammer and javelin. School-record holder Shelby Moran enters the weekend ranked fifth in the hammer with a season's best of 66.62m/218-7 from the Oregon Preview.
