Ducks Close Nonconference Play with 40-Point Win

EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 9 ranked Oregon Ducks took care of business today, defeating Weber State 89-49 in Matthew Knight Arena.
Nine Ducks scored in the contest, including five in double-digits. Oregon shot 55 percent from the field on the night, holding the Wildcats to 33 percent, forcing 18 turnovers that resulted in 27 points. Jackson Shelstad (16 points), Jadrian Tracey (14), Brandon Angel (14), T.J. Bamba (10) and Kwame Evans Jr. (10) all scored in double-digits for the now 12-1 Ducks.
How It Happened: Weber State scored the first basket of the game, but it was all Ducks after that. Jackson Shelstad opened the scoring with a three-pointer, his first of nine points in the first half. In total, nine Oregon players scored a basket in the half, as the team shot 53 percent. Oregon forced 10 turnovers in the half, scoring 12 points off turnovers. The Wildcats were held to just 36 percent and were led by Blaise Threatt, with nine points in the half.
Oregon started strong in the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 17-6 in the first five minutes. Brandon Angel netted seven points and Jadrian Tracey hit two threes to spark the run. At the 12-minute mark, the Ducks led 59-36. Weber State went on their largest run of the night, a 9-0 run that cut the lead to 20. Oregon responded strong with a 7-0 run to keep control, pushing the lead to 40 as time expired.
Notable: Five Ducks scored in double figures, led by Jackson Shelstad (16 points). Brandon Angel finished a perfect five-for-five with 14 points. It was the first 40-point victory since the 2021-22 season.
