Ducks Face Test Sunday

EUGENE, Ore. — Oregon women's basketball closes the first week of the regular season with its toughest test to date, as the Ducks welcome No. 12 Baylor to Matthew Knight Arena on Sunday for a 7 p.m. tip.
Oregon begins the season 2-0 for the 10th straight year after defeating Nevada 76-58 on Wednesday, getting a game-high 21 points from guard Deja Kelly. Four Ducks finished in double figures, with Amina Muhammad adding 13 points, Peyton Scott finishing with 12 and Alexis Whitfield scoring 10.
The Ducks and Bears will meet for the second straight year after then-No. 13 Baylor earned a 71-51 win in Waco last December. Oregon is 0-5 all-time against the Bears, including a meeting in the 2019 Final Four in Tampa, Fla.

Oregon kept its momentum going with its second win in three days to begin the season with a 76-58 win over Nevada on Wednesday night at Matthew Knight Arena.
Deja Kelly led four Ducks in double figures with her 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Amina Muhammad added 13 points, Peyton Scott finished with 12 and Alexis Whitfield scored 10 to help the Ducks improve to 2-0 for the 10th straight season.
Despite being outscored in both the first and fourth quarters, Oregon flexed its muscles in the middle two frames, combining to outscore the Wolf Pack 52-26 in the 20-minute span.
UO shot 75.0 percent from the floor and scored 24 points in the third quarter while holding Nevada to 23.1 percent shooting in the second quarter.
SCOUTING BAYLOR
Baylor heads to Eugene ranked No. 12 in the Associated Press top-25 poll. The Bears opened their season with an 85-33 win over Incarnate Word Thursday night, getting a game-high 23 points from Darianna Littlepage-Buggs to lead three players in double figures.
BU returns four starters from last year's team that reached the Sweet Sixteen in the 2024 NCAA Tournament, highlighted by Sarah Andrews (11.4 PPG) and Littlepage-Buggs (10.5 PPG). Andrews was third in the Big 12 last season with an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.03, while finishing eighth in the conference with 3.9 assists per game.
As a team, Baylor led the Big 12 and was eighth nationally in 3-point defense, allowing opponents to shoot just 26.3 percent from range. The Bears ranked third in the conference in bench points per game (23.7), rebounding margin (plus-7.3) and rebounds per game (40.3).
Head coach Nicki Collen has won at least 20 games in each of her first three seasons in Waco, and her squad was picked third in the Big 12 preseason coaches' poll.

Last season's schedule featured a stretch of seven straight ranked teams, while nine of the last 12 games to close the year came against teams inside the nation's top 20. Head coach Kelly Graves has guided the Ducks to 45 ranked wins over his first 10 seasons in Eugene. Oregon went 0-13 last season against top-25 opponents and has lost the last 14 overall, dating back to its last ranked win over then-No. 14 Arizona on Feb. 23, 2023 (73-59).

Oregon's new-look roster was on full display in its season-opening 93-63 win over California Baptist on Monday. The 93 points and 13 made 3-pointers were higher than any single-game total last season, while the 23 assists and five turnovers matched the single-game bests from 2023-24. With a 76-58 win over Nevada on Wednesday night, the Ducks improved to 2-0 for the 10th consecutive season.
