Ducks Host Grand Canyon Monday

EUGENE, Ore. — The 25th-ranked Oregon women's basketball team continues its season-opening homestand on Monday, as the Ducks welcome Grand Canyon to Matthew Knight Arena on Monday at 6 p.m. PT.
Oregon improved to 4-0 for the seventh time under head coach Kelly Graves with a 66-35 win over North Texas last Tuesday. The Ducks defense limited UNT to nine points on 2-of-19 shooting in the first half. Nani Falatea and Elisa Mevius paced UO with 11 points apiece off the bench, helping the Ducks to 42 total bench points.
The Ducks and Lopes will meet for the second straight year and the second time ever on Monday. Oregon earned a 64-56 win at GCU a season ago behind a 13-point, 16-rebound double-double from Phillipina Kyei.

LAST TIME OUT
Less than 48 hours after Oregon's upset of then-No. 12 Baylor, the Ducks improved to 4-0 with a stingy defensive effort against North Texas, winning 66-35 at Matthew Knight Arena last Tuesday.
The Ducks allowed UNT to just nine first-half points, their fewest allowed in any half in program history. The Mean Green went 2-for-19 from the floor in the first half and had just four made field goals through three quarters.
Nani Falatea and Elisa Mevius, both coming off the bench, tied for the team lead with 11 points apiece. Mevius added a team-best seven rebounds to go with two assists and two steals, while Falatea went 3-for-4 from behind the arc.
Oregon's bench combined to outscore the Mean Green 42-12, while the Ducks owned a 44-30 rebounding edge.
SCOUTING GRAND CANYON
Grand Canyon (2-1) comes to Eugene off a 70-59 win over Arizona State on Thursday night, getting a game-high 22 points from Alyssa Durazo-Frescas. She became the third different player to lead the Lopes in scoring through their first three games.
Durazo-Frescas (14.0 PPG) and Tiarra Brown (11.3 PPG) lead GCU in scoring, with Trinity San Antonio averaging a team-best 5.3 rebounds a night. Laura Erikstrup and Nneka Obiazor are tied for second at 5.0 boards per game.
GCU leads the WAC in 3-point shooting at 36.1 percent and 3-point defense, allowing teams to shoot just 12.8 percent from the behind the arc.
Grand Canyon was tabbed as the preseason favorite in the WAC, just ahead of California Baptist. San Antonio was named WAC preseason player of the year, with Brown joining her on the preseason all-conference team.

Oregon's new-look roster has shown its depth and talent just four games into the 2024-25 season, jumping out to a 4-0 start. The Ducks kickstarted their season with a 93-63 win over California Baptist on Nov. 4, with the 93 points and 13 made 3-pointers being higher than any single-game total last season, while the 23 assists and five turnovers matched the single-game bests from 2023-24. With wins over Nevada, then-No. 12 Baylor and North Texas, the Ducks begin a season 4-0 for the seventh time under head coach Kelly Graves.
» Three newcomers have cracked UO's starting lineup in each of the first four games, in addition to guard Peyton Scott, who missed nearly all of last season due to injury, with four of the five being transfers.
» Twelve Ducks got into the scoring column against CBU, with four reaching double figures, and eight players tallied at least seven points.
