Ducks Host Maryland, Rutgers to MKA

No. 11 Oregon and Maryland play Friday at 6 p.m. on B1G+.
EUGENE, Ore. – The No. 11 Oregon volleyball team plays four of its next five at home beginning Friday against Maryland. The Ducks will host the Terrapins at 6 p.m. PT followed by a Sunday contest against Rutgers at 1 p.m., also at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon carries a 14-3 record into the home weekend including a 6-2 mark in Big Ten play.
Series History vs Maryland
Oregon and Maryland will be playing for the first time when the two meet Friday evening in Eugene. Maryland is one of the Ducks' three first-time opponents this season, along with Grand Canyon (def. 3-2, Sept. 7) and Indiana (def. 3-1, Sept. 28).
Series History vs Rutgers
Sunday's match between Oregon and Rutgers will be just the fifth meeting in the all-time series, and first since 2007. The Ducks own a 3-1 advantage in the head-to-head including two wins in Eugene. Those two were played at McArthur Court.
Plum Into the UO Hall of Fame
Lauren Plum, the program's all-time leader in career assists, is a member of the six-person 2024 Oregon Athletics Hall of Fame induction class that will officially inducted this weekend in Eugene. Plum was the 2012 Pac-12 Setter of the Year, an AVCA All-America First Team selection that same season and helped UO to a 2012 national runner-up finish. Plum currently serves as an assistant coach at Vanderbilt.
Last Time Out
The Ducks hit .328 to go along with 11.0 total team blocks and 10 service aces in a four-set road win at Iowa. Mimi Colyer and Michelle Ohwobete had 16 and 13 kills, respectively. All five of UO's primary options had at least seven kills. Daley McClellan registered a career-high four aces in the victory.
Dishing it Out
Setter Cristin Cline was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, averaging 11.00 assists per set during the team's road trip to Wisconsin and Iowa. She had 43 assists, nine digs and a pair of aces against the Badgers, and capped the weekend with 45 assists, six digs and three blocks in a four-set win at Iowa.
At Your Service
For the second time this year, Oregon reached double digits in service aces (10) at Iowa. Senior DS Daley McClellan led all players with a career-high four aces, followed by two apiece from Mimi Colyer, Michelle Ohwobete and Mackenzie Morris. The Ducks had 13 service aces against BYU (Sept. 13).
Round Numbers
Junior Mimi Colyer reached 100-career aces in Oregon's four-set win at Iowa. She hit the milestone with her second ace of the afternoon. That same match against Iowa, Mackenzie Morris and Michelle Ohwobete reached--and surpassed--1,900 career digs and 1,300 career kills, respectively.
Super Sub
Freshman Mia Tvrdy recorded a career-high seven kills in the Ducks' four-set road win at Iowa. She entered in the second set and played the remainder of the match. Tvrdy hit .400 on 10 swings and put down the match-winning kill. She also had six blocks against the Hawkeyes, another career high.
How They Rank
Oregon enters the weekend sixth in the NCAA at 2.95 blocks per set. The Ducks have registered 10 or more blocks in eight matches this season. Oregon also ranks among the top 30 in the nation in hitting percentage (.266, 27th) and opp. hitting percentage (.165, 28th). UO leads the Big Ten in the latter.
They're Watching
Oregon teammates Mimi Colyer and Onye Ofoegbu are on the AVCA Player of the Year watch list. Colyer was named to the initial list (Sept. 19) while Ofoegbu was added with a second group of players (Oct. 18).
