The Ducks enter Friday's meet with a pair of top-15 national rankings. The Women of Oregon check in as the No. 7 team in the country with the Men of Oregon holding steady at No. 15 from the preseason poll.
In addition to the host Ducks, the 16th running of the Dellinger Invitational will also include Pac-12 rivals Cal, Oregon State (w) and UCLA along with BYU (w), Cal Poly, Fullerton, Idaho, Lewis & Clark, Montana, Portland, Sacramento State, San Diego State (w), St. Mary's (m), UC Davis, UC Riverside and UCSB.
Ranked competition in the opening race will come from No. 9 Portland while the women's race features sixth-ranked BYU and No. 17 Oregon State.
At the season-opening Linfield Harrier Classic (Sept. 1), Katie Clute and Elliott Cook swept the individual titles. Clute, in her collegiate debut, posted a winning time of 13:26.6 on the 4K course. Cook crossed in first for the Men of Oregon, navigating the 6K men's course in 18:17.3, more than two seconds clear of the runner-up.
First held in 2006, the meet is named for legendary UO head coach Bill Dellinger who led the UO men to four NCAA team titles and 12 top-three national finishes. A storied athlete in his own right, Dellinger was twice an NCAA champion for the Ducks, a three-time Olympian and the 1964 Olympic bronze medalist in the 5,000 meters.
